Our little Lucy is absolutely fascinated with garbage trucks. She has books about garbage trucks. A bouncy ball with garbage truck colors (green and yellow). She points them out on the road. She notices when we pass through other neighborhoods with their garbage cans out, "Looks like it's garbage day in this neighborhood." Even when we traveled this summer we had to work our schedule around garbage day.
Not sure why the obsession. When we ask she doesn't even know. Just shrugs her shoulders and says, "I don't know. I just love the garbage truck."
So every Monday (her favorite day) she wakes up, heads straight to the curb, and waits ALL DAY for the garbage truck. She eats breakfast, lunch and snacks outside so she doesn't miss it. Liam will often keep her company, but eventually loses interest. It can be 100 degrees and she'll sit, patiently, under the shade of the tree, and wait for the sound of those squeaky garbage truck breaks.
When it finally arrives, you will find no smile on earth, bigger than Lucy's. Well, the nice garbage man is pretty happy to see her too.
Here we are today. We wanted the kids to see the garbage truck too.
Here we are enjoying a Popsicle while we wait.
Here she is, in Canada, waiting across the road.
Grammy gets some chairs and waits with her.

Lucy Goose isn't the only one with a big smile on her face. I smile just watching her run along side the garbage truck.... what a sweetie! And what a nice brother to support and keep his sister company in this obsession hahaha xoxoxox
Can we have a song for garbage day from Lucy? "Monday, bump te bump, it's Monday! bump ti bump. Trash day is the best day of the weeeeeeek!" She would be an instant Youtube hit. Especially in my house. Do know a better celebration of a Monday ritual anywhere?
