Autumn Is Here!

The air is crisp, the leaves are starting to turn, the crows are, crowing? It's autumn! So to get into the spirit we've decorated a little section in our front yard with some Martha Stewart-inspired seasonal accents.

Last week we helped dig out old shrubs and planted some colorful mums and cabbage. Then we (Liam*) helped bring in hay (grunts included) and two scarecrows named, 'Liam' and 'Lucy'. Today we added pumpkins.

Mommy's motto is, 'work hard, play hard' so that's how we roll -- literally. After we finished placing the pumpkins in just the right spots, we discovered it was far more fun throwing them down the hill and chasing after them. Even more fun was watching Mommy and Grammy try to catch them before they rolled into the street. We all laughed really hard.

Grammy finally caught Liam and tickled him in the grass where he nearly rolled into Scrappy-poo - which he quickly identified by saying, 'POO-POO!'. So he set his pumpkin down, ran into the house, got a bag and handed it to Mommy for clean up. Did we mention Liam is tidy?

Anyway, we are really proud of our little 'Autumn Area' and already brainstorming Christmas themes!

* Lucy doesn't do hard labor but she's a great supervisor. And because she loves to 'collect' things (our little pack rat), it gives her an opportunity to examine the goods. Very often she will slyly remove something and stash it away - straw in this instance.
