Sportykes

Mommy enrolled us in a 9-week sports program for preschoolers that taught the fundamentals of basketball, t-ball, football (American) and football (soccer). We went every Wednesday after school. It was a fantastic program because it gave us a little taste of everything. Of course Mommy is pushing the football (soccer) because, well, we are half-English, it's in our blood and Daddy wouldn't have it any other way.

Liam was a little nervous at first. It's the first class (outside of school) we've participated in without Mommy. That apprehension was short-lived though because by the second meeting he was completely comfortable. Perhaps a little too comfortable. When he gets excited, he gets really hyper. When he gets really hyper his hearing becomes impaired. And the person he had the hardest time hearing was Coach Shannon.

Give Liam an open area and he'll take off running. Unfortunately, the other kids see him do this and follow his lead. Poor Coach Shannon spent a lot of time trying to keep order. To her credit though, by the end of the program Liam's hearing improved and he was better focused on following the rules.

Lucy was an excellent participant. She too gets very excited but is able to contain it a little bit better. She was really good at paying attention though tended to lose interest towards the end of class - sometimes sitting down in the middle of the gymnasium singing to herself. But it's hard to wait while your team mates have their turns. She did stick with it despite being the only girl in class. Mommy desperately wants Lucy to love sports because she feels it's important for girls to be active and part of a team.

Anyway, it was a great way to spend our winter afternoons. Mommy has signed us up for another "season" which starts next week because, well, you'll see in the videos below that we need a little more work.* She reckons we'll be ready to join an actual team after this season. We're not sure which sport yet but we're pretty sure it will involve a little black and white ball on a proper pitch :)
