Hillcrest Apple Orchards

It's apple season and we've been learning all about them in school. Mommy thought it would be fun to head out to a real live orchard to pick some of our own.

Last weekend we packed up Grammy and headed out to a place called Hillcrest Apple Orchards which is about 1-hour from the house in the North Georgia mountains near the small town of Ellijay http://www.hillcrestorchards.net/

What a fanstic day. The drive through the back country was beautiful. It's nice to see places untouched by the modern world.

We got there ready to pick us some apples but then got side-tracked by all the things to do and see: wagon ride, bull rides, pony rides, off-road trikes, slides, petting farm, pig races*, cow-milking, grub and of course some good ol' fashioned clog dancing. We had a blast.

Mommy made apple pie with the apples we picked. Unfortunately, we haven't acquired a taste for apple pie yet. Regardless, the experience gave us a better appreciation of apples.

Mommy with her little two apples

Liam coming down suicide slide. Lucy, still in a cast, came down after with Mommy.

If only Lucy's feet could reach the pedals...
Riding the ponies. Liam refused.

He refused to get on a pony but had no problem riding a bull**.

Broken arm? Bull-riding? No problem.

Our little performer. It's in her blood. EGOT*** is in this girl's future. Mommy can watch this video over and over and over -- melts her heart.

* Liam had a major melt down because he didn't want to get off the tractor. So we missed the races. Big bummer because Lucy is a BIG pig fan.

** He was a sweet baby bull called, 'Harold'

*** Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony.
