Can You Believe We're Three???

And can you believe Mommy has waited over a month to post about it? It's just not like her especially since we had such a great day. Guess the summer heat zapped her energy. That and the fact that we are thre...and there are two of us....and we are exhausting. But she can't post about our fabulous trip to England until she gets our birthday up, so here you go.

Not sure why, but we love Disney Princesses* (Lucy) and Spiderman (Liam). We've never seen their programs/movies so Mommy doesn't know how we came to be such big fans. Possibly the toy section at Target? Anyway, we're hooked - for now.

Three weeks before our birthday, we got a party supply catalog in the mail. It was AMAZING! Each page had a themed birthday party - and there were hundreds of pages. But the pages we liked best were the Girls (Snow White, Cinderella, Belle, Aerial, Jasmine and Sleeping Beauty) and Spidey. Lucy became obsessed with the catalog and took it everywhere - the car, the bathroom, she even slept with it. She kept saying, "Mommy, I want to go in this [princess] page." And for three weeks Lucy campaigned for a princess party for her and a Spiderman party for 'Miam'.

Of course Liam likes Spiderman, but not like Lucy likes the Girls. When Mommy asked him if he actually wanted a Spiderman party he replied, "Ok, but I want a monster cake like Charlie". Charlie from the 'Charlie & Lola' books. He has a monster-themed party and Liam LOVES his cake.

We had been to many birthday parties so we finally understood the beauty of it all - cake, candy, presents, fun! We couldn't wait for our turn. Really, it's all we talked about for 3 weeks. Actually, it was all Lucy** talked about.

So, on the morning of Friday, July 9th we woke up, wearing Princess and Spiderman pajamas (Mommy slipped them on while we were sleeping the night before), and went downstairs to find a Spiderman "party" in the breakfast room, and a Princess "party" in the dining room***. There were presents EVERYWHERE! There were cards EVERYWHERE! It was just like the catalog. And the best part -- we didn't have to wait to start our party. We tore into our presents then got to eat birthday cake for breakfast!

After cake we ran outside to find two new big-kid bikes (Princesses and Spiderman of course). We rode them around (they have training wheels) in the 100-degree heat like pros. And after that we were so ready for a nap. Could the day get any better? Yep.

We took the best nap ever and woke to find out that Aunt Candi, Grammy, Papa and Mommy were taking us to Six Flags. How cool is that? We went on our first roller coaster, on cars we could drive ourselves, airplanes, sky pods and Thomas the Tank Engine. We also got caught in a really bad storm and had to wait it out for over an hour. We were up way past our bedtime but we were so good.

When we got home we couldn't get into our beds fast enough. We had the best birthday but we were pooped. Now what to do for our fourth...

* Of all the Princesses Lucy likes "Cooty Booty" (Sleeping Beauty) best because she wears pink. And because she's a brain surgeon who speaks four languages and travels all around the world (as a happily-single independant woman) helping the less fortunate. She also drives a pink car and flies a pink airplane - because she has her pilot's license too.

** Lucy was quite the diva on her birthday. She definately took advantage of it being her day. Though hers are nothing like Liam's, she did have a few melt downs because she wasn't getting her way. Fortunately that behavior ended after her nap.

*** You're probably wondering where all the guests are. Well, we're 3 and frankly 3-year-olds are more interested in presents, cake and fun(and in Lucy's case decorations) so that's what Mommy focused on. Next year we'll invite friends.
